Will Worthington allow a Giant Eagle grocery store in Worthington?
Almost a year ago the sale of the United Methodist Children's Home land on High Street in Worthington was announced. Pictured is one of the buildings at the United Methodist Children's Home in October 2011.
Big News: Land for Sale in Worthington
The big chunk of land is just north of North St. with access from High Street. The Wortington Estates and Worthingway neighborhoods surround the land known as the United Methodist Children's Home.
There is a community meeting tonight at the Worthington United Methodist Church at 600 High Street. UMCH Family Services, formerly known as United Methodist Children's Home is rumored to be working with a developer who will put a Giant Eagle grocery store on the site. Details about that meeting are currently available on the Worthington.org site. The City of Worthington site says:
"The City of Worthington is notifying the community about the meeting, however UMCH Family Services, not the City, is hosting this meeting. This meeting is separate from any City meetings that would be conducted as part of a development review and permitting process."
There is a letter posted on the Worthington.org site (the official site of the City of Worthington) from UMCH Family Services about the meeting and possible sale and development of the UMCH property.
The This Week Community Newspaper, Worthington News article titled 'Giant Eagle rumored for former UMCH site on High St' gives a lot of detail about this news.
