concession at a Worthington Football game in 1941

Worthington football, those were the days!

Don O'Brien's photo of men attending a Worthington High School football game was taken in 1941.  They are standing in front of a concession stand.  Does it say "POP" was 5 cents?  On the left end it I believe it says CANDY was 5 cents too.

Men dressed up for public events.

Worthington high school was on the corner of Evening Street and Dublin Road (Dublin - Granville Road.) The Worthington High School, the school designed by Frank Packard. is now the MAC in Worthington.

Who were the men at the Football game? He referred to them as VIPs.  According to O'Brien's notes on Flickr left to right

"Mr. Phinney, the high school custodian"

and

"Jim Talliday, police chief (actually, the whole police department)"

and

"Ray Heischman, teacher and basketball coach"

According to Dok1 (Don O'Brien on Flickr) this photo was two months before Pearl Harbor and he was a high school senior, October 1941.

Photo Credit:  Don O'Brien's photo on Flickr "VIP's at a 1941 Football Game" is just one of many Worthington pictures from growing up in the 1930s and 1940s in Worthington that he's shared on his Flickr photostream.   http://www.flickr.com/photos/dok1/ / this photo is licensed with  CC BY 2.0
