Worthington Farmers Market teaching me to cook...

My loot from last Saturday's  Worthington Farmers Market included

  • Swiss chard Worthington Farmers Market veggies
  • zuchinni
  • yellow squash
  • green pepper
  • Italian peppers
  • the cutest little cabbage
Oh and a treat for my dear doggie, a "pupcake" from Blue Frost Cupcakes.

I found a recipe and cooked the Italian peppers... they turned out pretty good. Cooking them taught me something about buying Italian peppers.  I found a recipe for Swiss chard.  It did not turn out well....

Today's loot from the Worthington Farmers Market?

  • a melon
  • beets
  • Cubano peppers
  • green pepper
  • a huge tomato
  • zuchinni
  • yellow squash
  • a bunch of cilantro
  • a head of romaine

I think that's it.  I meant to go back and get a 'pupcake from Blue Frost Cupcake for my sweet dog, but I forgot.  Today was the Community Blessing of the pets at the Worthington United Methodist Church.  My dog needs a blessing but he is too old for outdoors, walking, heat and excitement.  We saw  dogs and a pony on the front lawn of the church.

I'll have to look up how to cook "Cubano peppers"

The Worthington Farmers Market is every Saturday morning on High Street.

I am jealous - no farmer's markets here.  I just clicked your G+ button. it went to MY G profile.  ??

Thanks!

We have lots of farmers markets and farm stands in Central Ohio.  There is a farmers market in downtown Columbus during the work week.

I thought it would be my profile on Google+ perhaps I missed some code.

I hope AR will add a G+ button but few people use the like button really.

Maureen - I guess your G+ button on your blog and sidebar will go to whoever clicks on it's G profile, if they are logged into Google.  AR won't take the code to add the button to your blog.  I have one on my blog signature, but it is just an image that links to the url for my G profile.  Might be totally worthless, but cute.

Even without having the button on your AR blog, when it comes up in searches from someone logged into google, it will have a plus next to it - and it works.

I tried that with my AR outside blog, which btw is very successful, even though I still haven't finished cleaning up my categories.  So lazy.

Guess I am off topic here...

Great post on the Worthington OH Farmer's Market - doggie cupcakes are interesting.  My darling dog died earlier this year, it really was like losing a family member, I always scoffed when I heard people say that, till it happened to me.

Virginia My dogs health is failing.  I wil have to have him "put to sleep" soon.  He had a bad day Tuesday but then bounced back on Wednesday.  My first dog died of cancer, he was my family.

I have to figure out what I did with the button.  I think I wanted it to go to my profile!

One of the best reasons for late summer, fresh garden vegetables.

I made pickled beets last night, only the second time in my life.

Maureen, so nice to be a part of your shopping and cooking. We now live within walking distance to the Farmer's market. I've tried two weeks in a row to get there...maybe this weekend. Vegetables are so good for us all. We are trying to cook each day with fresh foods. It's good for your lovely puppy. I always call our dogs...puppies. They are forever young to me. Our Golden is now 6 and starting to go white on her face. I count the days she is with us and we treasure her so. Ginger loves carrots, lettuce and zuccini. Strawberries are a treat beyond measure. Sending you many good thoughts, my friend!

We have to drive to the Farmers Market but it will be right out the front door from my new office. I have made it the past two weeks but Saturday morning just zips by most weeks.

Thanks for the good thoughts.  Buddy has had a string of good days now.
