but Delawanda Park is AKA Kenney Park.
"Also known as" as a kid I read the book 'Helter Skelter' about the Manson Family murders ... perhaps I skipped a paragraph or two... I believe it was the pictures of the Manson family members... they had "AKA" names. I read it as "Ahka" throughout the books. I think I knew it meant they used other names. It may have been my first crime book because "Also known as" never crossed my mind. I think I was done reading before my older, smarter sister told me AKA meant "also known as."
'Duh!"
Delawanda Park the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks site calls it Kenney Park.... Delawanda or Kenney Park is in north Columbus, just south of Worthington, west of Graceland Shopping Center. The park runs along the Olentangy River.
The City of Columbus site says of Kenney Park:
"Also known as Delawanda Park." Delawanda Park is the alias!
When Columbus nature blogger Tom Arbour writes about his old stomping grounds in north Columbus he writes about Kenney Park. I was recently wondering where the border was between Kenney Park and Delawanda Park and somehow became aware Kenney Park is AKA Delawanda Park.
"Ah Ha!"
Tom Arbour wrote Return to Kenney Park earlier this year. Earlier in June while he was out west in Yellowstone Park, his Ohio Nature blog ran reruns of old posts during Olentangy Week ...
On Ohio Nature Blog Tom Arbour wrote:
"Olentangy Week- This week I'll be presenting images from my most recent trip to my old stomping grounds, the Olentangy River at Kenney Park while I'm away at Yellowstone National Park. "
Arbour's images of life on the Olentany River include
Odocoileus virginianus AKA White-tailed Deer
Ardea herodias AKA Great Blue Heron
Rana catesbeiana AKA Bullfrog
Someplace on his blog, perhaps during Olentangy Week, Arbour said Kenney Park is on both sides of the Olentangy River.
Other Columbus parks with an alias? Schiller Park in German Village. It was City Park. It became Schiller Park, during WWI the name was changed to Washington Park because of anti German sentiments.
I have to wonder why the City of Columbus Park sometimes known as Delawanda Park has two names...
Are there other Columbus Parks with aliases?
North Columbus- Clintonville area - Sharon Heights
Clintonville area Zillow refers to it as "Sharon Heights"

Hi Maureen, your post reminds me why a "local" area expert is important to clients new to an area - you KNOW the community and all the AKA information! Susan
