Central Ohio - 80 degrees and sunny

Apple Blossoms and Snow

That's the local weather forecast today, 80° and sunny.

Happy Arbor Day! It is "National"  Arbor Day in Ohio and IN, MI, MN,PA, VA, WI and more.

KY and WV already had theirs... their Arbor Day.  The National Arbor Day Foundation's site says

"What is Arbor Day?

Arbor Day is a nationally-celebrated observance that encourages tree planting and care. National Arbor Day is the last Friday in April, but many states observe Arbor Day on different dates according to their best tree-planting times."

Arbor Day 2009 in Central Ohio should be beautiful. There's a tree planting on the Village Green in Worthington today, Worthington Ohio Tree City USA. There is a tree planting at Franklin Park Conservatory at 1777 E. Broad Street today, just east of downtown at 11:30 according to the Franklin Park Conservatory Calendar.

Ohio weather at this moment

Sorry the photo here is NOT very good but it captured an apple tree blossoming and snow on the grill.  It was last year?  Or it could have been 2007.  The apple trees are just starting to get blossoms this year.

We could not have snow again this year could we?

The white dot in the photo?  Tinkerbell?  I think it could have been a big 'ole wet snow flake on the camera lens.

Ohio celebrates Arbor Day

I really thought this was a painting. Wow!

A painting of what?  When I was looking for another photo yesterday I saw a thumbnail of this and thought "what the heck is that?"  It is such a bad photo I could not tell what it was.   I was looking for this photo a few weeks ago... I remembered taking it but I could not find it.

It is such a heinous photograph but I wanted to document apple blossoms and snow.  Growing up in Wisconsin I remember blossoms on the trees and snow...

I will plant a tree today.  I've just been looking for an excuse to buy one.

Lenn I was surprised that today is Arbor Day in VA and OH but not in WV.  WV and KY have already had their Arbor Day... last week?  Or maybe it was the week before that for one or the other.

Supposed to be absolutely gawgis here too. I don't know about planting trees, but I do have a lot of veggie slips that need to get in the ground today...

I was going to look up "gawgis" at first...  you have a green house don't you?  I know we can't plant annuals here yet...  people will be tempted to but it could still snow here... not likely but it could.

Kristin Remembering sitting on the living room couch in May 1970 in Waukesha WI and seeing snow against the crab apple tree on our front lawn (across the street from Tom Braatz's house) is seared into my brain. May 11, 1970 it snowed in Waukesha.

It's just not right...  for Mother Nature to do that to us in the spring.   I moved to Akron OH first (from Green Bay WI) and the difference in the spring was great.... I am a few hours further south and snow in the spring is freaky enough to make me grab a camera.

Just say NO to SNOW through out the midwest...  It is spring!  if Alaska or Colorado want it... they are welcome to it...

Maureen - I remember as a child, the school would always plant a tree on the school grounds on Arbor Day.  It seems we don't hear much about it anymore.  Glad to hear your weather is great.  It gets people outside looking at homes!

Hi Maureen... Happy Arbor Day!  I really like the texture of the picture you posted here.  Janice has it correct, it has the feeling of a painting!

that's because of Tinkerbell.... I should have painted on her wings...
