GOrgeous shots...will you be going to one of them today? :-) I am headed to Sheboygan to see the entire family!
Lovely montage of churches, Maureen! Looks like a very nice community!
Debi
Kristin I went to Easter Vigil last night at the church I go to which is in Westerville (east of Worthington)... I was there from 8:15 until after Midnight... that fulfills my Easter obligation... Thanks be to God!!! Have fun in Sheboygan Kristin, is that where you are from?
Debi Worthington is a wonderful community. These are not all the churches in Worthington. I was trying to get a diverse group but stay within the city limits of Worthington or as we refer to it here "Worthington proper."
Happy Easter!
Maureen you have some great looking churches there....peace zane
Worthington is gorgeous architecturally Zane, it reminds me of Hudson and Medina in NE Ohio but it is bigger than both.
Maureen, I love your churches with the steeples, we don't have many with steeples back here. When our daughter moved to NYC I drove with her and we were amazed at how many churches back east have steeples.
Even a lot of the newer churches here have steeples. There was a period they were not built with steeples but I can think of three newer churches which have steeples. Worthington was designed to be a New England village when the settlers got there in 1803. The city now has a very strong architectural code and traditional is strived for... bottom right is the newest church on here.
Enjoyed your church pictorial....steeples seem to have disappeared in newer architecture...we sometimes forget the real meaning of holidays...and the reason to get inside the architechture and appreciate what we have...happy spring.
Churches with steeples have come back here Sally... even outside of the City of Worthington. NEW AME church in the city of C
olumbus has one... Their old church is the one at the center bottom of the churches above. The Salvation Army church in Columbus has a steeple too, those are both Worthington area, but not subject to the Worthington Architectural review.
The church I go to is raising funds for a new church and it is going to have a steeple, it is going to be traditional looking. Present church which is outgrown by the congregation is contemporary built in the late 60's.
This one pictured here is a really new church in the Lewis Center area (north of Worthington.)
Most of the really large churches in our area don't have steeples but I can think of one that does. I wanted to take a photo of it but had a hard time getting a good shot of it. A lot of the smaller churches built in the 70's, 80's, 90's don't have them. I love contemporary churches too. I really love diversity in architecture.
