It was the Linworth Methodist Church but the building is now Linworth Baptist Church. The first service in the church at 6200 Linworth Rd was June 15 1958. The church at 6200 Linworth Rd. has been expanded over the years.
The Linworth Methodist Church photo is from a Worthington Chamber booklet published in 1964. George Campbell's (Geocam20000) Flickr photostream exhibits the Worthington Chamber booklet. The Linworth United Methodist Church moved west to the Sawmill area in the late 1990s. The church is now at 7070 Bent Tree Boulevard Columbus, Ohio 43235. The original Methodist church in Linworth stands at 2424 W. Granville Rd. Worthington Ohio 43085. Originally known as Brights Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church, it is now The Village Bookstore.
The Clintonville Baptist Church moved to Linworth, purchasing the property at 6200 Linworth Rd, They changed their name to Linworth Baptist Church in the late 1990s. The Clintonville Baptist Church had been on Oakland Park.
Today the Linworth United Methodist Church site says of the history of 6200 Linworth Rd:
"In 1957 additional space was needed. Fourteen families took out second mortgages on their homes to provide the equity needed to purchase property and build the new church at 6200 Linworth Road. By 1996 the average worship attendance had increased to 550 and again more space was needed."
That's when the Baptist church bought the Linworth Church building.
The church in Linworth was pictured on my Tic - Tac - Toe board of local churches on Easter 2009, Columbus Easter Sunday 2009. The Linworth Church, Linworth Baptist is shown on the left side, middle. The church today is very spread out and I doubt I have any of the 1958 original building in the photo. I believe the gable on the right of 1958 original church would be just to the left of the part I was able to get in my 2009 photo. Or perhaps I am turned around.
