Hey Worthington who has photos? Worthington Square

Worthington Mall signHey Worthington who has photos of Worthington Square?  Old photos?

From the beginning?

From the early years?

I went on the walk a few weeks ago...  the walk of the Wilson Bridge Road Corridor from the Community Center to Olentany Park... one of the photos I took that day was of the Worthington Mall entrance in July 2010.  That photo must be on my Posterous, Columbus Life... or on ColumbusBestBlog.com

I went to see what Bird Houck came up with Wednesday night (August 4, 2010.)

Who has photos or memories of what the mall in Worthington  was like in the beginning?  Was it called a mall? Or was the word "mall" later?  Was it Worthington Square Shopping Center?

What year was Worthington Square enclosed?

Anyone have photos of what the mall looked like before it was enclosed?

Know of anyone who would have photos of Worthington Square way back when? I wondered if Don O'Brien would have photos.  Don O'Brien grew up W. Wilson Bridge Rd in the 1930's and 1940s.  His family (he, his wife and children) lived out on Sunbury Road in the 1950s.  Don O'Brien is Dok1 on Flickr.  His old Worthington photos are always interesting. When Worthington's W. Wilson Bridge Rd. Moved late 1960's...  no mall there yet...

I went on the Wilson Bridge Road Corridor walking tour on Saturday morning... the walk was from the Community Center to the Olentangy Parklands.  The Wilson Bridge Road Corridor which is being studied is from 'rail to river. 'The railroad tracks are just east of the Worthington Community Center.

The river...  the Olentangy is where it has always been.

It was a long hot walk.

It was interesting. In fact it was fascinating...

I do not know much about commercial real estate... office space, the north side of both E. Wilson Bridge and W. Wilson Bridge are mostly office space.  There are very high vacancy rates (welcome to Central Ohio.)

Also on the noth side of E. Wilson Bridge Rd.  MedVet and the Worthington City School District Administration Building.   The south side of Wilson Bridge Rd. is residential.Medvet E. Wilson Bridge Rd. Worthington Ohio 43085  A study of that area is what started it all?

W. Wilson Bridge Rd once you get past the Worthington Mall is more huge office spaces.  The walkers were broken up into groups...  I was in the BEST group... we had a woman who does leasing for one of the large landholders on W. Wilson Bridge in our group.

The next public meeting is on August 4, 2010. Stay tuned to the Worthington.org site for info. I just stumbled on the news of the Wilson Bridge Corridor Walking Tour..  by accident.
