Farmers Market: sign of the sunflowers

Sunflowers Worthington Farmers Market

The sunflowers were out last Saturday morning at the Worthington Farmers Market.   This vendor is set up at the corner of High St. and E. New England Ave.

Worthington Farmers Market

Crossing the Worthington Village Green I passed a man who was leaving the Worthington Farmer's Market Saturday morning with a bag of fruits and vegtables and a big beautiful sunflower. The first display of sunflowers I saw last Saturday was just south of the Worthington Village Green on the west side of High St.

Our new office in Old Worthington will be opening soon - The new Real Living HER Worthington office.  I can pick out the office sign in this photo...  easier in a larger version.

Sunflowers, sunflowers, sunflowers...

The Summer Farmers Market runs through October 29 this year.  Old Worthington Business Association has information on both the Olde Worthington Summer Farmers Market and the Olde Worthington Winters Farmers Market at the Griswold Center.

Me? I bought...I bought lettuce, cabbage, a melon, a tomato, green peppers on Saturday...  no sunflowers... perhaps next Saturday.

The Worthington Farmers Market , summer version has plenty of life left in it this year, running to the end of October.  Then vendors who are able to sell year round move to the Griswold Center, for the Worthington Winter Farmers Market (more info on the Worthington Business Association site (link above.)

Worthington Farmers Market teaching me to cook...

My loot from last Saturday's  Worthington Farmers Market included

  • Swiss chard Worthington Farmers Market veggies
  • zuchinni
  • yellow squash
  • green pepper
  • Italian peppers
  • the cutest little cabbage
Oh and a treat for my dear doggie, a "pupcake" from Blue Frost Cupcakes.

I found a recipe and cooked the Italian peppers... they turned out pretty good. Cooking them taught me something about buying Italian peppers.  I found a recipe for Swiss chard.  It did not turn out well....

Today's loot from the Worthington Farmers Market?

  • a melon
  • beets
  • Cubano peppers
  • green pepper
  • a huge tomato
  • zuchinni
  • yellow squash
  • a bunch of cilantro
  • a head of romaine

I think that's it.  I meant to go back and get a 'pupcake from Blue Frost Cupcake for my sweet dog, but I forgot.  Today was the Community Blessing of the pets at the Worthington United Methodist Church.  My dog needs a blessing but he is too old for outdoors, walking, heat and excitement.  We saw  dogs and a pony on the front lawn of the church.

I'll have to look up how to cook "Cubano peppers"

The Worthington Farmers Market is every Saturday morning on High Street.
