Franklin County Ohio schools make the grade

Some Franklin County Ohio schools make the grade... others are still working on it.

Ohio Department of Education grade by districtCongratulations to Franklin County schools districts who got top grades for the 2008 - 2009 school year as many schools are starting the school year this week.

The grades were released yesterday.  There is so much information about Franklin County school districts on the Ohio Department of Education site it is mind boggling.

The easy thing for me is to look at the report cards.

You can look at report cards by school district or building by building within a school district.

The state does not give A,B,C, D, F and any  + or _  (plus or minus)

  • Excellent with Distinction
  • Excellent
  • Effective
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Academic Watch
  • Academic Emergency

Ohio issues report cards by district:

Ohio School Districts

Ohio issues report cards by each school building:

Ohio schools by individual school building

The Franklin County schools that got top grades....  Congratulations to Franklin County School Districts that got a grade of Excellent with Distinction this year:

  • Bexley
  • Dublin
  • Grandview Heights
  • Hilliard
  • New Albany Plain Local
  • Worthington

Did I miss any?

I made an assumption that one school district would have an Excellent with Distinction grade from the state.   The school which  I assumed would have the top grade from the state of Ohio is rated excellent.... grades  change year to year.   You know what they say about assumptions.

I really only work the north part of Franklin County so I do not work with homes in some of these districts below.

All Franklin County School Districts according to the Ohio Department of Education:

  • Bexley City
  • Canal Winchester Local
  • Columbus City
  • Dublin City
  • Gahanna
  • Grandview Heights City
  • Groveport Madison Local
  • Hamilton Local
  • Hilliard City
  • New Albany-Plain Local
  • Reynoldsburg City
  • South-Western City
  • Upper Arlington City
  • Westerville City
  • Whitehall City
  • Worthington City

Ohio Schools report cards - making the grade?

chalkboard with A+ Ohio Schools report cards come out today.

This morning Channel 10 News says:

"The Ohio Department of Education planned to release its annual school district report cards on Tuesday morning.

The report cards, scheduled to be released at 10 a.m., rank each district based on how they are performing in several areas."

As you send your kids off to school for the 2009 - 2010 school year what grade is the state giving your school district?  A number of schools in northern Franklin County, Southern Delaware County start tomorrow I believe.

Information for some Central Ohio public school districts on my website.  There is also a short list of private and parochial schools in Central Ohio there too.

Ohio Schools report cards

Each local school district will be awarded a grade by the   Ohio Department of Education.

Not A, B,C, D, F...  I did not have a chalboard that says "Continuous Improvement" or "Excellent with Distinction" or the other grades that the state gives each school district.

How's the Neighborhood? How good are the schools?

eCard from Real Living Back to School

This is a reblog of content from Diane Lynch a real estate agent in Illinois.  Diane is in the Chicago area but what she is saying about schools and neighborhood safety is true for Central Ohio too.

There's lots of information available about schools and neighborhoods in Central Ohio.

Some Central Ohio Public School Info

Some Central Ohio Private School Info

The image is an eCard from Real Living.  I am an agent with Real Living HER in Central Ohio.

Via Diane Lynch (Realty Executives Premiere):

To the buyers out there......

Realtors cannot tell you "how the neighborhood is" or "how good are the schools" in particular areas. That is against the Fair Housing Laws. We can offer you websites to research these things. We can tell you to search on the internet. We can suggest you knock on doors in the neighborhood to talk to the neighbors. But we cannot give our opinions on how "safe" the area is. We encourage you to research the area before you buy. It's important to buy in a neighborhood you feel comfortable in.

It's not that we don't know the area. It's not that we are holding back. It's just that we can't help you there or we are violating the law.

Central Ohio Back to School - 2008

Back to schoolHas the Columbus Dispatch published a back to school list yet?  They're running back to school ads...

I hated back to school ads as a kid.  I liked the first day of school but I dreaded day two and beyond and just generally the end of summer.

Here's a short list of the school districts in my part of Central Ohio

Columbus The first day of school for the  year is Wednesday, August 27, 2008 (traditional double check  there are other schedules.)

Dublin I hope Dubliners can tell when school starts from the Dublin Back to School List PDF

Olentangy First Day of School for the year is Wednesday, August 20, 2008.

Westerville  All Schools the first day of school for the year is Wednesday, August 27, 2008 for  Grades 1-6, 9 and all Middle Schools Classes begin: Grades 7-8, 10-12 on Thursday, August 28,2008.

Worthington The first day of school for the year is Wednesday, August 27, 2008.

Looking for another Central Ohio School District, here is a list of more Central Ohio school districts.

A list of Central Ohio private schools, if I've missed your school shout out a link or the start date.
